WECU Court at Sam Carver Gymnasium
Athletic facilities on Western's campus include Sam Carver Gymnasium, soccer and softball complexes and a six-lane all-weather rubberized track.
Carver Gym, completed in 1962, has five basketball courts, including a main gym which holds 2,534 spectators. It also has a swimming pool, four handball courts, the Parberry Strength and Fitness Center, and convertible facilities for volleyball, which includes a SportCourt.
Robert S. Harrington Field, completed in 2014, has an all-weather AstroTurf surface, bleacher seating for 500, and lighting for night use.
Track meets are held at Bellingham's Civic Stadium. The stadium, built in 1961, with an addition in 1971 and a major renovation in 2006, has covered seating for 4,000 spectators and lights for night use. The track is an eight-lane, 400-meter oval.
Softball contests are held on campus but other sports have their competition off campus. Men's and Women's soccer matches are played at Harrington Field on the WWU campus. Rowing events are held on Lake Samish, with the boathouse located at Lakewood on Lake Whatcom. Cross country competition is conducted at Lake Padden Park and golf matches are held at the Bellingham Golf & Country Club.
