The New and Improved

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University Department of Athletics has launched a redesigned website through its partnership with CBS Interactive Advanced Media.

The site was refreshed with a lighter-colored template and a more seamless interface that allows users to quickly and easily find information on WWU’s student-athletes and varsity athletic programs.

Along with the new design comes increased functionality, as the new site is completely adaptable for all devices. The update is highlighted by a completely responsive design, which allows for users to enjoy a similar viewing experience whether logging on through a desktop computer, tablet or mobile device.

WWU also partnered with Seattle-based TagBoard to feature social media posts from Facebook, Instagram and Twitter on the homepage, as well as each sport page.

“The newly designed site give Viking fans a clean and modern look with an easy-to-use interface,” said WWU Sports Information Director Jeff Evans. “One of the biggest changes will be the responsive design that will make viewing the website on all devices really easy. And the integration of TagBoard will give fans the ability to follow all of our social media accounts in one spot via the Viking Trending Wall. We are proud of our longtime partnership with CBSi Advanced Media and appreciate all the hard work they put into redesigning our site.” is the official website of WWU athletics. The site features information, news, schedules, rosters and exclusive interactive content covering WWU’s 15 varsity teams. WWU’s corporate partners and sponsors are also featured on the site. WWU and CBS Interactive Advanced Media have partnered to bring fans for nearly 15 years.

WWU will be entering its 20th year competing at the NCAA Division II level and is coming off one of the most successful years in department history. The Vikings placed 11th out of 309 Division II schools in the annual Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings, the eighth time in the last 10 years to finish in the top 20 for the all-sports award. WWU had 13 of its 15 teams advance to their respective NCAA championships, with women’s soccer and women’s rowing programs each winning national championships for the 10th and 11th team titles in WWU history. WWU also compiled an academic success rate of 86%, well above the NCAA II national number of 71 percent, and recorded a combined grade point average of 3.16 for the 2016-17 academic year.

And we are moving back into a renovated Carver Gym where we will have one of the premier Division II facilities in the nation. It’s a great time to be a Viking.”

WWU Athletics:
Western Washington University is a four-year public institution located in Bellingham, Washington, featuring over 300 student-athletes that compete for 15 intercollegiate athletic teams. WWU is entering its 20th year as a NCAA Division II member and competes primarily in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. WWU Athletics has finished in the top 50 in the NCAA II Learfield Directors’ Cup standings in each of the last 14 years, and in the top 20 in eight of the last 10 years. WWU’s programs have won 11 team national championships, most recently the 2016 women’s soccer team and the 2017 women’s rowing team.
