"Western Washington University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Athletics. The Viking athletics program includes 15 sports for 300 male and female student-athletes and has one of the best coaching staffs in the nation. WWU is a member of the NCAA Division II and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. In 2012-2013, WWU placed 12th among 312 NCAA II institutions in the Sports Director's Cup national all-sports standings, the fifth straight Top 15 finish for the Vikings. WWU is one of six state-funded, four-year institutions of higher education in Washington. It is located in beautiful Bellingham, Washington, 90 miles north of Seattle and 50 miles south of Vancouver, British Columbia. With 15,000 students, 160 academic programs, and an energized campus community, Western focuses on students, while maintaining the faculty access of a smaller college and the academic choices, resources, multicultural diversity, and room to grow of a large university.
Western is seeking a leader for its intercollegiate athletics program who will compete with integrity and success in Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and help to further our identity as a leading university that welcomes and embraces diversity, and encourages applications from diverse candidates."
