WALNUT, Calif. - Western Washington University's Stacey Hopkins (Sr., Sammamish/Eastlake) placed 12th in the women's javelin Saturday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships held at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
Hopkins had a mark of 139-5 in the preliminaries, but did not advance to the finals.
"It just didn't click timing wise," said Western coach Pee Wee Halsell. "I had high hopes because she's been looking real good in practice.
"I'm very proud of her. She's disappointed, but she's had a great career."
Last year, Hopkins earned All-America honors by placing seventh at nationals with a mark of 146-7. She ranked 11th nationally entering the meet with a mark of 145-4.
Hopkins' personal best throw of 148-4 came in 2003.
On Friday, Western's Danielle Juarez (Sr., Olympia/North Thurston) tied for eighth place in the women's pole vault to earn All-America honors.
