SEATTLE, Wash. - Western Washington University's Tanya Bjornsson posted a mark of 18-8 1/2 in the women's long jump, over a half foot better than the NCAA Division II provisional national qualifying standard, on Saturday at the University of Washington Indoor Flo Track Classic being held at Dempsey Indoor on the UW campus.

Bjornsson, a senior from Ferndale, placed second among 40 entries in the event. The mark was just shy of her personal best of 18-9 1/4 established last year.

Danielle Littleton, representing UC Riverside, placed first with an effort of 18-9 3/4. Oregon's Medelayne Varela was third with a mark of 18-4 1/2.

WWU's Frank Catelli (So., Sequim) finished sixth in the men's shot put among 22 entries with a mark of 55-5. He trailed four Division I athletes and one club competitor. Wyoming's Finley Mason won with an effort of 62-5.

Four weeks ago, Catelli had PNQ and school record mark of 55-10 1/2.

The rest of WWU's squad competes Sunday.
