Fifteen Vikings named USTFCCCA West Region all-stars

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Fifteen Western Washington University indoor track and field athletes were named West Region all-stars by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday. WWU's Kevin Yates (Fr., Snohomish) qualified in two events, the men's high jump and long jump. The other Viking qualifiers were Karis Anderson (Sr., Seattle/Roosevelt) in the women's pole vault, Tanya Bjornsson (Jr., Ferndale) in the women's long jump, Alex Donigian (So., Mission Viejo, CA/Trabucohils) in the men's 60, Peter Maguire (Fr., Boise, ID) in the men's 60 hurdles, Logan Myers (So., Olympia/Capital) in the men's high jump, Jason Nokes(Sr., Spokane/Mt., Spokane) in the men's 4x400, Cheyenna Pinley (So., Bellingham/Squalicum) in the women's pole vault, Jon Poolman (So., Langley/South Whidbey) in the 4x400, Katie Reichert (So., Kelso) in the pentathlon, Nate Schmidt (So., Lynnwood) in the 4x400, Devon Smith (Jr., Marysville/Lakewood) in the 4x400, Brett Watson (So., Ferndale) in the men's high jump, Emily Warman (Sr., Sedro-Woolley) in the women's long jump and Lindsay Wells (Jr., Seattle/Nathan Hale) in the women's weight throw. WWU repeaters were Anderson, Myers, Poolman, Watson and Warman. The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three earned the all-region distinction for the 2013 indoor season. |
