Seventeen Vikings named USTFCCCA West Region all-stars

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Seventeen Western Washington University indoor track and field athletes were named West Region all-stars Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three earned the all-region distinction for the 2012 indoor season.

Three Vikings were honored in two events. They were Chip Jackson (Jr., Seattle/Shorewood) in the men's mile and distance medley relay, Eleanor Siler (Sr., Spokane/Lewis & Clark) in the women's 400 and DMR, and Emily Warman (Jr., Sedro-Woolley) in the women's long and triple jumps.

Completing the WWU selections were Nick Abraham (Sr., Sammamish/Skyline) in the DMR, Karis Anderson (Jr., Seattle/Roosevelt) in the women's pole vault, Tanner Boyd (Jr., Camas) in the men's 5000, Brittany Grandy (Fr., Sedro-Woolley) in the women's high jump, Michael Hoffman (Sr., Bellingham/Sehome) in the men's weight throw, Miranda Lahman (So., Boulder, CO/Niwot) in the women's DMR, Logan Myers (Fr., Olympia/Capital) in the men's high jump, Jon Poolman (RS-Fr., Langley/South Whidbey) in the men's DMR, Cal Rosenberg (Jr., Portland, OR/Grant) in the men's pole vault, Karsten Shick (So., Kodiak, AK) in the men's high jump, Katelyn Steen (Fr., Sammamish/Eastlake) in the women's DMR, Braden Timpe (So., Enumclaw) in the men's DMR, Mikhaila Thornton (Fr., Bend, OR/Mountain View) in the women's DMR and Brett Watson (Fr., Ferndale) in the men's high jump.

Anderson and Grandy are going to the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships next week at Mankato, Minn.

Siler was also a two-event region all-star last season. Two other WWU repeaters were Abraham and Rosenberg.
