BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Western Washington University's Emily Warman (Sr., Sedro-Woolley) broke her own school record set five years ago and placed eighth in the women's long jump Friday at the 2013 NCAA Division II National Indoor Track and Field Championships being held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Warman leaped 19-2 3/4, 4-3/4 inches better than the WWU standard she established in 2009. The placing earned her United State Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America honors.

It was the third national indoor appearance for Warman and her second in the long jump. She holds indoor and outdoor school bests for both the long and triple jumps.

"This says a lot about her training this year," said WWU coach Pee Wee Halsell. "I expect her to be even stronger in outdoor track."

WWU pole vaulters Karis Anderson (Sr., Seattle/Roosevelt) and Cheyenna Pinley (So., Bellingham/Squalicum) finished 12th and 13th, respectively. Both cleared 12-1 1/2.

"They both competed well, hitting a mark close to what it took to get there," Halsell said.

It was the second straight trip to indoor nationals for Anderson, who placed fifth in 2012 by clearing 12-9 1/2. Pinley was making her first national indoor appearance.
