First-Day Heptathlon Results Get Acrobat Reader

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Just 390 points separate the top five competitors in the decathlon and University of British Columbia's Britney Hearn holds a 429-point advantage in the heptathlon following the first day of the Western Washington University Combined Events Track & Field Meet on Thursday at Civic Stadium.

Olympic CC's Jayson Brocklesby leads the decathlon with 3,256 points after posting the top time or mark in three of the first five events. Central Washington's Justin Peterson is second at 3,178, followed by OCC's Hunter Keffer at 3,050.

WWU's Michael Stalser (Jr., Cheney) is fourth at 2,998 and UBC's Michael Przystupa is fifth at 2866.

Hearn had the best performance in three of the four heptathlon events. UBC's Madison Ladner is second at 1,646.

WWU's Emily Stralser (Sr., Cheney) suffered a leg injury during the long jump, the second event of the day, and had to withdraw.

Emily is Michael's sister.
