BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University's Michael Stralser (Jr., Cheney) moved up two spots to place second among six decathlon competitors in final-day action Friday at the WWU Combined Events Track & Field Meet held at Civic Stadium.

Stralser finished with a 10-event total of 5,587 points, just 77 shy of his personal best. Olympic Community College's Jayson Brocklesby had a winning total of 5,801 points, with Michael Przystupa from University of British Columbia third at 5,114.

Stralser ran the 110-meter hurdles in 17.33 seconds, and had marks of 100-8 in the discus, 12-5 1/2 in the pole vault and 135-4 in the javelin before a 5:10.90 clocking in the 1,500.

UBC placed one-two in the heptathlon with Britney Hearn being victorious with a seven-event total of 3,547 followed by teammate Madison Ladner with 2,767.

WWU's Emily Stralser (Sr., Cheney), Michael's sister, had to withdraw after the second event of the first day because of a leg injury.
