BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University's John Haskin and Lindsay Wells have been named Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Male and Female Track and Field Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Apr. 20-26.

The honor is the third this season for Wells.

Wells, a senior from Seattle (graduate of Nathen Hale High School), added nearly three feet to her school record and NCAA Division II provisional national qualifying mark in the hammer with a throw of 182-4 on Saturday at the 33rd Annual WWU Ralph Vernacchia meet. The winning toss tied the second-longest effort in GNAC history.

Haskin, a sophomore from Bainbridge Island (graduate of Bainbridge High School) and a transfer from Olympic CC, reached the provisional standard in the men's javelin with a mark of 193-11. He placed second at the meet.
