WWU places five on USTFCCCA Academic all-star team

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Five Western Washington University student-athletes were named to the 2012 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Academic All-Star. They are decathlete Alex Harrison (Sr., Edmonds/Edmonds/Woodway), sprinter Chip Jackson (Jr., Seattle/Shorewood), sprinter Jon Poolman (So., Langley/South Whidbey), javelin thrower Katie Reichert (Fr., Kelso) and sprinter Eleanor Siler (Sr., Spokane/Lewis & Clark). It is the second recognition for Harrison and Siler. Harrison was named in 2010 and Siler in 2011. Harrison is a kinesiology major with a 3.89 (4.0 scale) grade point average. He placed seventh at the NCAA Division II National Championships in the decathlon to earn All-America honors. Siler won the 400 meters at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships to earn all-star honors. She is a biology major with a 3.39 GPA. Reichert posted a 3.44 GPA in her first year at WWU, receiving All-America honors by placing seventh at nationals. Jackson is a mathematics major with a 3.93 GPA, and Poolman is an accounting major with a 3.65 GPA. |
