Seven WWU athletes named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Seven Western Washington University cross country athletes, two men and five women, have been named to the 2012 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division II Cross Country All-Academic Team announced this week. The Vikings honored were Lauren Breihof (Sr., Vancouver/Mountain View), Eric Brill (Sr., Kent/Kentwood), Sierra Brisky (Jr., Acme/Mount Baker), Tyler Cannon (Jr., Kennewick/Kamiakin), Rachael Johnson (Sr., Yakima/West Valley), Haley O'Connor (Fr., Sammamish/Eastlake) and Mary Rogers (Jr., Spokane/Shadle Park). The honor was the third straight for Breihof, Brill, and Brisky; and the second for Johnson and Rogers. Breihof is a business administration and marketing major with a 3.67 GPA (4.0 scale), Brill is secondary education major with a 3.89 GPA, Brisky is a kinesiology-sports psychology major with a 3.65 GPA, Cannon has a 3.65 GPA, Johnson is an English major with a 3.75 GPA, O'Connor has a 3.71 GPA, and Rogers is Spanish major with a 3.89 GPA. The Western men placed 10th at nationals last fall and the women 12th. To qualify for Division II All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.25. |
