BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Center Austin Bragg (Sr., Longview/Mark Morris) had the second triple-double in school history, leading Western Washington University to a 99-76 victory over University of Alaska Anchorage in a regionally televised Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball contest Saturday at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.
Bragg had 13 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists as the Vikings improved to 15-4 with their fifth straight win and remained tied with Seattle Pacific for first in the GNAC at 9-2.
UAA fell to 13-9 overall and 6-5 in the GNAC. Guard Travis Thompson led four Seawolves in double figures with 16 points, and guard Brian McGill added 15 points and six assists.
WWU never trailed, jumping to an 11-0 lead 3:22 into the contest. The Vikings led by as much as 18 in the first half and held a 45-32 advantage at halftime.
WWU extended the lead throughout the second half, shooting 69.0 percent (20-of-29) from the field after halftime, including 10-of-15 (66.7 percent) on 3-pointers.
For the game, the Vikings shot 62.9 percent (39-of-62) from the field, going 16-of-27 (59.3 percent) on 3-pointers. Woodworth was 8-of-10, including 6-of-7 on treys.
Kyle Fossman had 14 points for UAA, and Teancum Stafford added 12.
Bragg's triple-double was the first by a WWU player since Jason Burrell accomplished the feat on Jan. 16, 2003, and just the third in GNAC history. Bragg leads the GNAC in double-doubles with nine.
WWU is now 12-1 at home this season and has won 39 of its last 40 games at Carver Gym.
The Vikings travel to Simon Fraser on Sat., Feb. 8 (7 p.m.) for a GNAC counter.
