White defeats Blue, 78-67, in 17th Annual WWU Intrasquad game

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Guard Morris Anderson (Sr., Federal Way) scored 15 of his game-high 22 points in the second half, leading the White to a 78-67 triumph over the Blue in the Western Washington University Blue-White intrasquad men's basketball game Saturday on Haggen Court at Sam Carver Gymnasium.

Center Zach Bruce (Sr., Oceanside, CA) added 20 points for the White, 14 in the second half.

Guard Derrick Webb (Port Orchard/South Kitsap) had 19 points to lead the Blue, 17 of them after halftime, and forward Michael Duty (Sr., Seattle/O'Dea) had 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

The score was tied at 43-43 seven minutes into the second half, but the White scored the next five points and led the rest of the way. The Blue pulled to within two, 61-59, with 4:45 to play, but Anderson hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put the game away.

The White held a 28-25 lead at halftime after a cold-shooting first half in which neither team made a 3-pointer and both shot under 35 percent from the floor.

Western opens its season on Friday (7:30 p.m.), meeting Grand Canyon in first-day action at the 2009 Disney Classic in Los Angeles.
