BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University center Austin Bragg has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 26-Feb. 1.
It is the second time this season and the third time in his two-year WWU career that Bragg, a 6-foot-9 senior from Longview (graduate of Mark Morris High School), has earned the honor.
Bragg had 31 points, 26 rebounds and 13 assists, and recorded just the second triple-double in WWU history and only the third in GNAC history in leading the Vikings to wins over Alaska Fairbanks, 53-51, and Alaska Anchorage, 99-76.
Bragg had one-third of WWU's points and rebounds in Thursday's win over Alaska Fairbanks, and recorded a triple-double of 13 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in Saturday's regionally televised victory over Alaska Anchorage.
In the two contests, Bragg made 12-of-20 field goals and all five of his free throws.
The 15-4 Vikings, tied for the GNAC lead at 9-2, travel to Simon Fraser on Saturday (7 p.m.).
