WWU's Bragg named Red Lion/GNAC Co-Player of the Week

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University forward Austin Bragg has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for Jan. 27 to Feb. 2. Bragg, a junior from Longview (graduate of Mark Morris High School), leads the GNAC in double-doubles with five. He scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Saturday's 83-76 overtime win against Seattle Pacific. On Thursday, he blocked four shots to key WWU's defensive effort in an 86-69 win against Montana State Billings. Over his last five games, Bragg is shooting 68.4 percent from the field (26-of-38) and 89.5 percent at the foul line (17-of-19). He has had at least one block (13 total) and at least one steal (14 total) in seven consecutive games. Bragg shared the weekly honor with Alaska Anchorage guard Kyle Fossman. Bragg, a transfer from Clark CC, is averaging 9.9 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds, for the 20-0 Vikings, ranked No.2 nationally and the defending NCAA Division II national champion. |
