Cal prep star accepts scholarship offer from WWU

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Jeffrey Parker, a 6-foot-6 forward who played in three state title games, has accepted a scholarship offer to play men's basketball at Western Washington University starting this fall. Making that announcement was Viking head coach Brad Jackson. A senior at Salesian High School in Richmond, Calif., Parker averaged 11.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots in helping the Pride to a 34-2 record and Bay Shore Athletic League, North Coast Section, Northern Region and California Interscholastic Federation Division IV state championships. He earned all-Bay Area and league honorable mention. Parker had 22 points and 10 rebounds versus nationally ranked Trinity KY and was named to the Granite Bay Grizzly All-Tournament team. As a junior, Parker started on a squad that won league, sectional and regional titles and reached the state championship contest. Parker attended CIF Division I McClymonds High School his first two years as a prep. As a freshman, he played on a Warriors' team that took Oakland Athletic League and Northern Region crowns and got to the state title contest. Parker started as a sophomore. WWU graduated three seniors, two of them starters, from a team that won the NCAA Division II championship, the first national title in the 110-year history of the program, and finished with a 31-5 record, the win total being a school record.
