Men's Hoops Helps Move in New Students to WWU Dorms

Sept. 26, 2017

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The Western Washington University men's basketball team took time off from preseason conditioning and workouts to help out with the annual WWU Move-In Day.

The team helped new students move into their dorm rooms, making quick work of boxes, crates and even mini fridges.

"As a team we wanted to welcome incoming students with a helping hand at move in day," said head coach Tony Dominguez. "We hoped to add some support to the already strong volunteer services of WWU students. Getting involved with our WWU community is important to us and being an active participant is a strong core value of our program. Sammantha Golden, of University Residence, was a huge help in allowing us the opportunity and we hope to grow it into a long standing tradition. Go Vikings!"

The team's community service was featured in Western Today, the university's daily news source for current events and campus news.

And remember the season is right around the corner, with the Blue-White game scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21 at 5 pm on WECU Court at Carver Gym.

Here are some great photos of the event taken by Rachel Bayne.
