17th Annual Blue/White Game on Saturday
Oct. 20, 2009
BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The 17th annual Western Washington University Blue/White men's basketball intrasquad game is slated for Saturday (3 p.m.) on Haggen Court at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus. Admission is free. Head coach Brad Jackson (25th year, 445-257) will split his squad, with the teams being coached by assistants Tony Dominguez and Rob Visser. The Vikings return two starters and eight letter winners from last year's 21-6 unit that won the school's first outright Great Northwest Athletic Conference title and reached the West Regional of the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Western is led by senior guard Morris Anderson (Federal Way), who received honorable mention recognition on The Sporting News 2009-10 Preseason NCAA Division II All-America Team. Last season, Anderson averaged 12.6 points, 6.1 assists and 5.4 rebounds while earning GNAC Newcomer of the Year and first-team all-league honors. Following the game, the Vikings are treated to dinner at the home of WWU Team Orthopedic Physician and long-time fan Dr. Michael Thorpe with the winners serving the losers. |
