BELLINGHAM, Wash. -
Two long-time annual events take place over a five-day span with the 27th Viking Jam on Wednesday, Oct. 30 (7 p.m.) and the 21st Blue/White game on Sunday, Nov. 3 (4 p.m.).
Both take place at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the Western Washington University campus and admission is free.
Viking Jam features the men's and women's basketball teams with roster introductions, intra-squad scrimmages, a slam-dunk contest and a three-point shootout. There also will be routines by the WWU cheerleaders and Hip-Hop dance team, free popcorn, as well as contests for fans and lots of prizes.
Treats will be given to children who attend dressed in Halloween costumes.
Both the WWU men's and women's teams won West Regional championships and reached the NCAA Division II national semifinals last year.
The Blue/White men's contest splits the squad of head coach Tony Dominguez between assistants Greg Meier and Bob Hofstetter.
Following the contest, the Vikings are treated to dinner at the home of WWU Team Orthopedic Physician and long-time fan Dr. Michael Thorpe with the winners serving the losers.
