BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University basketball fans are encouraged to bring toys to the Viking men's and women's Thanksgiving tournaments this weekend as well as to their two home games in December.
Not only will it mean a dollar off admission, but more importantly it will make a difference in kids' lives.
Western is teaming up with Starbucks to collect toys for the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation. Starbucks volunteers will be at each of the Vikings' games on Nov. 23 and 24 and Dec. 1 and Dec. 6.
The Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation is a leader in helping children and families get through the toughest of times. When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, the day-to-day joys of childhood take a back seat to the rigors of treatment and hospitalization.
For more than two decades, the Starlight StarBright Children's Foundation has dedicated itself to improving the quality of life for children with serious medical conditions by providing entertainment, education and family activities that help them cope with the pain, fear and isolation of prolonged illness.
