BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University men's basketball forward Tyler Amaya was named Great Northwest Athletic Conference co-Player of the Week for Dec. 13-19.

Amaya, a 6-foot-7 junior from Mount Vernon, had 36 points and 16 rebounds as the Vikings split a pair of games at the High Desert Classic. He made 15-of-29 field goal attempts, including 6-of-10 3-pointers, and also had five steals.

Amaya had 28 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks, all game highs, as Western rallied from a 10-point deficit in the last nine minutes to defeat No.21 Cal State San Bernardino, 73-69. He scored 10 points during a decisive 22-7 run, including the last five that put the Vikings ahead to stay.

Amaya shared the league's weekly honor with Seattle Pacific guard Jordan Lee.

Western, 9-1, hosts Whitman College on Thurs., Dec. 30 (7 p.m.) at Bellingham High School.
