WWU's Paul Jones named Red Lion/GNAC Player of the Week

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University forward Paul Jones has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 23-31. Jones, a senior from Kent (graduate of Kent-Meridian High School), had 26 points, six rebounds and two blocks in leading the Vikings to a 98-62 non-conference victory over Thompson Rivers BC. WWU, off to a 10-0 start, extended its winning streak over two seasons to 16 with the triumph. That is the second-longest victory string in both school and GNAC history. Jones, a preseason GNAC all-star pick, is averaging 15.7 points per game and 6.5 rebounds. He leads the GNAC in 3-point accuracy at 70.6 percent (12-of-17) and is shooting 62.9 percent (49-of-79) overall from the field.
