Mount Vernon senior Brennan Emory hit a rough patch at this year's Northwest 3A District Tournament. His putting was failing him and it didn't get any better the following week at the state tournament. "Everyone makes birdies when they are playing good," Emory said. "It's when you are not playing good that you have to find a way to put up a good score to keep you in contention." Emory did just that. He shot a 78 on the first day of the Class 3A State Tournament at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane to move on to Day 2. He followed that up with a 75 to finish tied for 16th place. Emory, who played in the state tournament four consecutive years, is the Skagit Valley Herald Boys' Golfer of the Year. |
