AUSTIN, Texas - Western Washington University moved up one spot and tied for 10th among 16 teams at the St. Edward's University Men's Golf Invitational which ended Tuesday at the Grey Rock Golf Club.

The tourney was shortened to two rounds because of freezing rain Monday, followed by an ice storm that evening.

The Vikings' Mark Strickland (Jr., Mukilteo/Kamiak) was tied for second after shooting a 1-under par 71, but finished tied for 60th after a second-round 86. WWU shot 300 for a 36-hole total of 611.

Nationally No.1-ranked Barry FL had the tourney's best round of 274 for a winning score of 6-under 570. That was 13 shots better than runner-up and No.4-rated Cal State Monterey Bay (287=583). No.16 Western New Mexico was third at 589 (289) and No.14 Cal State Stanislaus fourth at 595 (292).

WWU's Chris Hatch (Fr., Mukilteo/Kamiak) tied for 26th at 150 (72). Jack Kelly (So., Snoqualmie/Mount Si) tied for 35th at 152 (72), Kyle Schrader (Jr., Olympia/Tumwater) tied for 54th at 156 (74) and Kyle Lindor (R-Fr., Woodinville) tied for 83rd at 169 (82).

The Vikings next compete on March 24-25 at the Cal Baptist Invitational.
