Team By Team Results
TURLOCK, Calif. -
Western Washington University's Dylan Goodwin (So., Mukilteo/Kamiak) is in a three-way tie for sixth in medalist play and the Vikings are eighth in the team standings following two rounds Monday at the Cal State Stanislaus Men's Golf Invitational Tournament being held at the Turlock Golf and Country Club.
The third and final round will be played Tuesday (8 a.m.).
Western, ranked No.5 in the latest Golf Coaches Association of America Golf World/NIKE Golf Top 25, had rounds of 301 and 300 for a 36-hole total of 601.
Host Cal State Stanislaus leads the 20-team field at 6-over par 582, posting back-to-back rounds of 291. Cal State San Bernardino opened the day with a tourney-best round of 290 to lead by one stroke, then shot 297 and is second, five strokes back at 587.
Cal State Monterey Bay is third at 588 (294-294) and Sonoma State is fourth at 589 (296-293).
"It was not a good day for us," said Western coach Steve Card (18th year). "We were just not sharp at all, but hopefully we can rebound tomorrow with a good round."
Goodwin had rounds of 75 and 70 for a 1-over total of 145. That is 10 strokes behind leader Kenny Pigman from Cal State San Bernardino, who is 9-under at 135 (67-68). Teddy Schrier from Cal State Stanislaus is second at 5-under 139 (69-70), four shots behind Pigman.
Western's Brian Barhanovich (Jr., Everett) is tied for 29th at 150 (71-79).
The Vikings' Nick Varelia (Jr., Kent/Kentwood) is tied for 52nd at 153 (76-77), Sandy Vaughan (So., Seattle/O'Dea) is tied for 55th at 154 (79-75) and Xavier Dailly (Sr., Burlington/Burlington-Edison) is tied for 68th at 157 (79-78).
