WWU's Sandy Vaughan wins Seattle Amateur Championship

SEATTLE, Wash. - Sandy Vaughan, last year's runner-up, survived windy conditions at West Seattle Golf Course with a 1-under 71 in the final round on Tuesday to win the Seattle Amateur Championship by two strokes. Vaughan, a Western Washington and former O'Dea golfer, had three birdies on the back nine in the final round and finished the 54-hole tournament at 2-under 212. Viking teammate Mark Strickland (214) of Harbour Pointe GC in Mukilteo was runner-up, followed by Jed Dalton, David Fonua and Blake Snyder in a three-way tie for third place at 215. |
