BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University men's golfer Evan Needham (Lynden/Meridian) was named a Golf Coaches Association of America Cleveland Golf/Srixon Division II All-America Scholar in an announcement Thursday, July 25.

Needman, a plastics engineering technology major with a 3.30 (4.0 scale) grade point average, completed his eligibility last spring and will graduate in December.

Needham was a Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-star in helping WWU to the conference championship, second place at the South Central/West Regional and the semifinals at the NCAA II National Championships.

Needham, who also was a GNAC academic all-star, had a 75.1 stroke average.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon Division II All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 78.0, and maintain a minimum cumula¬tive grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
