WWU tied for second place after first round at Cal State Monterey Bay

SEASIDE, Calif. - The Western Washington University men's golf team was in a three-way tie for second place after Monday's first round at the Cal State Monterey Bay Invitational being played at the Bayonet Golf Club.

The second round was suspended because of darkness. Action resumes Tuesday at 8 a.m. followed by the third and final round.

Host CSUMB is in first place with a 14-stroke lead after shooting 3-under par 285.

The Vikings, ranked No.5 in the latest Golf World/Nike/College Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll, are in second at 299, tied with Nova Southeastern and St. Edward's .

Craig Crawford (Jr., Stanwood/Highland Christian) led WWU with a 1-under 71. Dylan Goodwin (Sr., Mukilteo/Kamiak) shot 73, Mark Strickland (So., Mukilteo/Kamiak) 77, Jake Webb (Sr., Issaquah/Skyline) 78 and Sandy Vaughan (Sr., Seattle/O'Dea) 78.

The medalist leader, shooting a 5-under 67, was Cal State Monterey Bay's Matt Ogden.
