Vikings blanked 5-0 in exhibition at UBC

VANCOUVER, B.C. - Sean Einarsson scored twice as University of British Columbia tallied three goals in the first 40 minutes in rolling to a 5-0 win over Western Washington University in a men's soccer exhibition game Tuesday night at Thunderbird Park on the UBC campus.

Einarsson opened the scoring in the 11th minute, Jules Chopin being credited with the assist. Niall Cousens found the net in the 23rd minute, and Einarssson scored again in the 40th minute with Milda Mehrabi getting an assist.

The Thunderbirds scored an unassisted goal in the 57th minute, this one by Navid Mashinchi, and Kyle Sohi got a goal in the 81st minute on a pass from Otis Sandhu.

WWU was limited to four shots by the UBC defense, two by Chad Radulovich (So., San Ramon, CA/California).

UBC had 24 shots, Viking goalkeeper Keegan Rogers (Sr., Portland, OR/Portland Christian) making seven saves in the first half and Nico Terentjev two in the second period.

WWU, which lost 2-0 in its opening exhibition with defending Western Athletic Conference champion and this year's league favorite Seattle University on Aug. 23, competes its pre-season exhibition schedule Saturday (2 p.m.), playing host to Trinity Western University.
