BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University gave up an early goal and it stood up as the Vikings fell 1-0 to nationally ranked Seattle Pacific University in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's soccer game Saturday night at Orca Field on the Whatcom Community College campus.

The Vikings dropped to 4-7-0 overall and 1-2-0 in GNAC play, losing for the sixth time in their last eight contests. The game ended a four-game home stand for Western, which has played nine of its first 11 contests at home.

Seattle Pacific, ranked No.24 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America/NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll, improved to 7-1-3 overall and 1-1-1 in league action.

Eris Isufi scored the lone goal, his first of the season, in the 14th minute, taking a pass from Drew Williams near the top of the penalty area and then turning and firing a low shot into the net.

The Falcons, who entered the game ranked seventh nationally in goals against average (0.52), picked up their sixth shutout of the season with their first whitewash in six contests. It was just the second time this fall that Western has been blanked.

The Vikings' best opportunity to score came in 48th minute when Tyler Bjork (So., Kirkland/Juanita) had a shot from eight yards out that forced Seattle Pacific goalkeeper Kaleb Kuehn to make a diving save, one of two he had in posting his fifth shutout.

Isufi nearly added a second goal in the 56th minute, putting a shot off the crossbar and 20 seconds later putting one off the right past.

Seattle Pacific had a 14-7 advantage in shots.

The Vikings travel to Saint Martin's on Monday (3 p.m.) for a GNAC counter.
