NAMPA, Id. - Midfielder Tyler Bjork (So., Kirkland/Juanita) scored the winning goal in the 107th minute and Oscar Jimenez (So., Mount Vernon) had a goal and two assists as Western Washington University defeated Northwest Nazarene University, 4-3 in overtime, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's soccer game Saturday at the NNU Soccer Field.

The Vikings, who were coming off a 12-day layoff, snapped a two-game losing streak as they improved to 5-8-0 overall and 2-3-0 in GNAC play. It was their first overtime victory in four tries this season.

Northwest Nazarene fell to 5-8-1 overall and 0-4-1 in league action.

"It was great to get a win in overtime," said Western coach Travis Connell, who is now one victory shy of No.100 during his 11-year WWU career. "We had a lot of chances and we deserved the victory."

Bjork's game winning header came off a cross by Jimenez following a missed shot. It was Bjork's second goal this fall.

Brendan Quilici (Jr., Battle Ground/Columbia River) got Western on the scoreboard first in the 11th minute, knocking in a rebound of his own shot.

NNU knotted the score three minutes later on a header by Sal Sanchez, and the Crusaders went ahead, 2-1, in the 40th minute on a five-yard chip by Nate Hamm.

Western tied the score at 2-2 just before halftime as Kellan Brown (So., Tacoma/Bellarmine Prep) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season on a header off a corner kick by Jimenez.

Jimenez put the Vikings ahead 3-2 in the 74th minute with his fifth goal of the campaign, a low shot inside the left post. Quilici and Kenny Parker (Jr., Seattle/Blanchet) were credited with assists.

NNU tied the game at 3-3 in the 85th minute as Mangeac scored from 18 yards.

Western had a 22-14 shot advantage and the corner kicks were tied at seven each.

The Vikings next travel to southern California to play Cal State Dominguez Hills on Wednesday (7 p.m.) and Cal State L.A. on Friday (1 p.m.) in a pair of non-conference contests.
