LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Kellan Brown's (So., Tacoma/Bellarmine Prep) team-leading seventh goal of the season was the only bright point for Western Washington University as it fell 6-1 to nationally ranked Cal State L.A. on Friday in a non-conference men's soccer game at Jesse Owens Stadium.

The Vikings, who dropped to 5-10-0, have lost all five of their contests with Top 25 teams this season. The deficit matched their worst since a 7-2 home loss to Notre Dame de Namur during the 2006 campaign.

CSULA, ranked No.10 nationally in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America/NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, improved to 15-2-1. The Golden Eagles, who have won all 13 of their home games, were ranked No.1 in the country earlier this season after getting off to an 11-0-0 start.

CSULA was paced by Federico Cino and Kristian Gaustad. Cino scored twice, upping his team-leading goal total to nine, and assisted on another goal. Gaustad had one goal and two assists.

Cino opened the scoring in the 10th minute, blasting in a free kick from the top of the box.

CSULA, which led 2-1 at halftime, got goals by Gaustad and Cino just over three minutes apart early in the second half to make it 4-1. Those came a few minutes after Western's Kenny Parker (Jr., Seattle/Blanchet) was red carded in the 50th minute and the Vikings played a man short the rest of the way.

Two more Golden Eagle goals came late in the contest, this time within two minutes of one another, which gave them the final five-goal margin.

Western's only score was in the 40th minute when Brown stole a clearing pass and knocked in a shot from the left side of the box inside the right post.

The Vikings, who have reached the halfway point of a stretch of eight straight road contests, travel to Simon Fraser on Monday (7 p.m.)
