BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University forward Andrew Weishaar has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 22-28.
Weishaar, a senior from Puyallup (graduate of Puyallup High School), scored three goals as the Vikings moved into a tie for second place in the GNAC standings at 3-0-1 with home field victories over U-Mary, 3-1, and South Dakota Mines, 2-1.
Weishaar added an insurance goal against U-Mary, then provided all the WWU offense against Sound Dakota Mines. He scored in the 17th minute, then again in the 78th minute to break a 1-1 tie.
Weishaar is WWU's leader this season with 14 points and six goals, both of which lead the conference. His 22 career goals rank him eighth among school leaders.
Receiving GNAC Defensive POW honorable mention was WWU goalkeeper Keegan Rogers (Jr., Portland, Ore./Portland Christian).
Earlier this season, Weishaar received GNAC Offensive POW honorable mention.
WWU begins a stretch of five conference road games this week with stops at Saint Martin's on Thursday, Oct. 3 (3:15 p.m.), and Seattle Pacific on Saturday, Oct. 5 (7 p.m.).
