Six Vikings named GNAC academic all-stars

BELLINGHAM, Wash. --- Defender Bryan Hall (Sr., Tacoma/Stadium) was honored for the third time, heading six members of the Western Washington University men's soccer team selected to the 2012 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic all-star team.
Also named were forward Justin Moore (Sr., Port Orchard/South Kitsap), forward Andrew Weishaar (Jr., Puyallup), defender Bailey Martin (Jr., Tacoma/Stadium), midfielder Caden Sowers (So., Ferndale) and midfielder Gabriele Zaccagnini (So., Olympia/Capital).
Hall is a psychology major with a 3.54 grade point average (4.0 scale).
Moore and Weishaar are both repeaters.
Moore is a cellular and molecular biology major with a 3.62 GPA, and Weishaar is an accounting major with a 3.58 GPA.
Moore is tied for the team lead in goals with six, and Weishaar has five goals and two assists.
Martin is a human resource management major with a 3.45 GPA, Sowers is an electronics engineering technology with a 3.30 GPA and Zaccagnini is a kinesiology major with a 3.27 GPA.
WWU, which is 6-7-2 overall and 4-5-2 in conference play, ends its season with three road games, traveling to Seattle Pacific on Thursday (7 p.m.), Oct. 25; Saint Martin’s on Sunday (1 p.m.), Oct. 28; and Simon Fraser on Sunday (3 p.m.), Nov. 4.
To be eligible for the GNAC academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university.
