2013 GNAC Soccer Academic All-Stars Get Acrobat Reader

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Forward Andrew Weishaar (Sr., Puyallup) was honored for the third time, heading five members of the Western Washington University men's soccer team named as 2013 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Stars in an announcement made Wednesday, Oct. 30, by the conference office.

Receiving the accolade for the second time was Viking defender Bailey Martin (Sr., Tacoma/Stadium).

Rounding out the WWU quintet of honorees were defender Sawyer Preston (So., Sammamish/Eastlake), midfielder Matt Temple (So., Beaverton, OR) and midfielder Uche Ugwoaba (So., Burien/Highine).

Weishaar, who leads the GNAC in goals with nine and is in a first-place tie for game-winning goals with five, is an accounting major maintaining a 3.72 (4.0 scale) grade point average.

Martin is a business administration management major with a 3.33 GPA.

Preston is a biology major with a 3.22 GPA, Temple is a manufacturing engineering technology major with a 3.81 GPA and Ugwoaba has a 3.32 GPA.

WWU, which is 7-1-3 in its last 11 outings, is 9-3-3 overall and third in the conference standings at 7-1-3.

The Vikings host two GNAC foes this week, Seattle Pacific on Thursday, Oct. 31 (7:30 p.m.), and Saint Martin's on Sunday, Nov. 3 (1 p.m.)

To be eligible for the GNAC academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university.
