Keegan Rogers named Red Lion/GNAC Defensive Player of the Week

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University goalkeeper Keegan Rogers has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Nov. 3-9.

Rogers, a junior from Portland, Ore. (graduate of Portland Christian High School), helped the Vikings to a 3-0 victory over nationally No.2-ranked Simon Fraser .

That helped WWU finish with one of its best records in recent years at 11-4-3 and place third in the GNAC standings at 9-2-3.

Rogers made three saves in notching his seventh shutout. The toughest save came in the 61st minute, when he tipped a shot by Chris Bargholz around the left post.

The triumph was WWU's first over Simon Fraser since 2008. The Clan had won eight of the previous nine meetings, with one tie.

Rogers finished the season with a 0.67 goals against average and a .848 save percentage. He made 67 saves in 1,601:04 minutes.
