Sixth Annual Western Washington University Great Western Shootout
The Great Western Shootout, a men's and women's basketball tournament hosted by Western Washington University at Las Vegas, Nevada, in mid-December, will be played at the Arena at South Point for the second straight season in 2011.
The 4,600-seat facility will be the site of the sixth-annual GWS with the Viking men meeting Rollins for the second straight season on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. and Alabama-Huntsville on Friday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m. The Central Washington men will play Alabama-Hunstville at 5 p.m. on Dec. 15 and Rollins on Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. Last year, Rollins won the title, going 2-0 with wins over Western and Central.
The Western women are slated to play Central Oklahoma on Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. and Drury on Dec. 16 at 1 p.m., with the Central Washington women meeting Drury on Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. and Central Oklahoma on Dec. 16 at 11 a.m.
The Western men are 3-5 overall at the GWS, losing both games last year against Cal State San Bernardino and Rollins. The Viking women are 6-4, winning both of their games in 2010 by double-digits over Saint Joseph's (Ind.) and St. Mary's (Texas).
