BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Guard Corinn Waltrip (Jr., Tigard, OR) scored a game-high 25 points, hitting all five of her 3-points attempts, but it wasn't enough as the Western Washington University women's basketball team fell to a strong Viking Alumni squad, 76-58, on Saturday at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.

Center Lauren Hefflin led the alums, who led 35-23 at halftime, with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Forwards Gabby Wade and Stacey Turrell each had 13 points, and forward Courtney Clapp had 11.

The Alumni closed the first half with a run of seven straight points to establish their halftime margin. WWU pulled to within seven, 37-30, on a Waltrip three-pointer with 17:51 left, but the alums scored the next seven points and the margin was never under double-digits again.

WWU was without starting forward Kristen Schramm (Sr., Chelan), who sat out the non-counting contest to rest a minor knee ailment.

WWU next hosts the 15th annual Lynda Goodrich Classic, meeting Simpson (Calif.) University on Friday (7 p.m.) and Northwest University on Saturday (5 p.m.).
