BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Riding a 13-game winning streak, matching the school's longest in 20 years, the Western Washington University women's basketball team debuted as No.24 in the USA Today/ESPN/Women's Basketball Coaches Association /NCAA Division II Coaches Poll released Tuesday.
The 13-1 Vikings, who have not tasted defeat since a season-opening overtime road loss, are at Northwest Nazarene on Thursday (6 p.m. PT) and Saint Martin's on Saturday (5:30 p.m.) for a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference contests.
The winning streak matches the sixth longest in school history. Western's longest string was 19 games during the 1971-72 season. The Vikings also have had three 15-game streaks, as well as a string of 14 wins.

Besides Western and Seattle Pacific, two other West Region teams are listed nationally. Cal Poly Pomona (9-4) is No.20 and Chico State (11-2) is No.22.
Western, which hosts Seattle Pacific on Thu., Jan. 27 (7 p.m.), defeated Cal Poly Pomona, 78-64, earlier this season.
