Western climbs to No.14 in WBCA/NCAA II poll

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - For the third straight week, the Western Washington University women's basketball team moved up in the USA Today/ESPN/Women's Basketball Coaches Association /NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, climbing two spots to No.14.

The 18-2 Vikings, who debuted at No.24 four weeks ago, won two home games last week, rolling past Alaska Anchorage, 87-56, and prevailing over Alaska Fairbanks, 71-58.

Western is on the road this week for two Great Northwest Athletic Conference contests, traveling to Western Oregon on Thursday (7 p.m.) and Humboldt State on Saturday (7 p.m.).

Three other West Region teams are listed in the national poll, with Seattle Pacific (22-1) remaining No.2, and Chico State (16-3) and Cal Poly Pomona each moving up two spots, Chico State to No.15 and Cal Poly Pomona to No.17.

The top four stayed the same with Drury KS (19-1) No.1, Seattle Pacific No.2, Shaw NC (21-1) No.3 and Washburn KS (20-2) No.4.
