WWU gets top rating in first NCAA II West Region Poll

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University earned the top ranking in the inaugural NCAA Division II West Regional women's basketball poll released today. The Vikings, 19-3 and ranked No.8 nationally, are one of four GNAC teams ranked in the poll. Simon Fraser is third, Northwest Nazarene seventh and Montana State Billings eighth. Chico State, 19-3, is second in the regional poll, while Cal State Monterey Bay is fourth. The poll will eventually help determine, which five at-large teams join the GNAC, PacWest and CCAA champions in the West Regional playoffs. The regional begins Friday, March 15 at a site to be determined. Generally the top-ranked team earns the right to host the regional. 1. Western Washington; 2. Chico State; 3. Simon Fraser; 4.
