Two Vikings are finalists for NCAA II State Farm WBCA Coaches All-America Team

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Two Western Washington University players, junior guard Amanda Dunbar (Jr., Marysville/Marysville-Pilchuck) and senior center Jessica Summers (Blaine), have been named West Region all-stars and are among 40 finalists for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association/NCAA Division II State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.

Dunbar and Summers joined UC San Diego guard Chelsea Carlisle, Cal Poly Pomona guard Reyana Colson and Seattle Pacific guard Daesha Henderson on the five-member squad.

Dunbar is the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's leading scorer at 17.3 points a game, the best mark by any Viking since the 1995-96 season. She ranks No.6 nationally in 3-point accuracy at a near school-record pace of 47.1 percent (88-of-187) and No.10 in treys per game (3.3), with her 88 3-pointers being a school single-season record.

Summers is averaging 16.1 points and 8.9 rebounds, sharing the GNAC lead in rebounds and being fourth in scoring.

The Vikings, 23-4 and the No.3 seed in the West Regional of the NCAA Division II National Tournament, faces Chico State in an opening-round game Friday (12:30 p.m.) at Seattle Pacific University's Royal Brougham Pavilion.

WBCA Announces Finalists for NCAA Division II State Farm® Coaches' All-America Team

ATLANTA - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), in cooperation with State Farm, announced the finalists for the 2010 State Farm Coaches' All-America Team for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II. The 40 finalists, who are voted upon by WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical regions, are now in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.
