Taylor Peacocke Named All-West Region

March 14, 2017

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University senior guard Taylor Peacocke has been voted a first-team selection to the 2016-17 Division 2 Collegiate Commissioners Association Women’s Basketball All-West Region team.

Peacocke (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor) continues to add to her impressive list of awards from her senior season. She has already been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year, a three-time GNAC Player of the Week selection and was selected to the NCAA II West Regional All-Tournament team.

Peacocke remains the leading scorer in NCAA Division II with 23.3 points per game and with 745 points, became the first player in GNAC history to eclipse 700 points in a season. She was named the GNAC Player of the Year and finished her career just six points away from the GNAC’s all-time scoring record, ranking second with 1,940 career points.

The Vikings finished the season with a 26-6 record, with trips to the GNAC Championships final and the NCAA West Regional semifinals, where they were the No. 3 seed. Peacocke becomes the fifth Viking to earn CCA First Team All-West Region honors (formerly Daktronics), and first since Britt Harris and Corinn Waltrip in 2011-12.

Peacocke, and the four other first-team selections, move on to a national vote and are eligible to earn a spot on the D2CCA All-America team. In total, the PacWest and GNAC landed five players on the all-region team, followed by the CCAA with one. The 2016-17 D2CCA All-West Regional Women’s Basketball teams were nominated and voted upon by the region’s sports information directors.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
