Clapp named to West Regional all-tournament team

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University center Courtney Clapp (Jr., Kirkland/Juanita) was named to the NCAA Division II West Regional all-tournament team announced Monday.

Clapp averaged 27.5 points and 8.0 rebounds as Western reached the second round of the NCAA II national tourney, scoring 32 points in an 82-74 overtime victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills and having 23 points in an 85-75 loss to Chico State in the regional semifinal.

Seattle Pacific guard Mandy Wood was named Most Outstanding Player of the regional. The Falcons won the West Regional title for the second consecutive year, defeating Chico State in the championship game Monday, 85-70.

Also on the all-tournament team were guard Amy Taylor and forward Carli Smith of Seattle Pacific, and guards Lauren Himmelspach and Kim Abts of Chico State.

Western finished its season 24-5 and made its seventh consecutive NCAA II tournament appearance.
