BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Two Western Washington University players, junior guard Amanda Dunbar (Marysville/Marysville-Pilchuck) and senior center Jessica Summers (Blaine), received honorable mention recognition on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association/NCAA Division II State Farm Coaches' All-America Team announced today.

Dunbar led the Vikings and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in scoring at 17.4 points a game, the best mark by a Western player since the 1995-96 season. She ranked No.6 nationally in 3-point accuracy with a school-record 46.7 percent (91-of-195) and No.9 in treys per game at 3.3 with her 91 3-pointers also being a school single-season record.

Dunbar, who set a WWU mark by making 10 consecutive 3-pointers, also averaged 3.2 assists, second in the GNAC, and 2.0 steals.

As a senior next season, Dunbar will be looking to become just the second player in school history to lead the team in scoring all four years. The only Viking to accomplish that feat was two-time Wade Trophy finalist Jo Metzger from 1977 to 1981.

With 1,261 career points, Dunbar can finish among the top three career scoring leaders in school history as well as challenge the GNAC career record for points.

Summers averaged 16.5 points and 8.9 rebounds, tying for first among GNAC leaders in rebounds and being second in scoring. She also was fourth in field-goal accuracy at 51.2 percent and fifth in blocked shots with a 1.1 average.

Dunbar and Summers were both WBCA West Region picks and first-team GNAC all-stars. Dunbar also was a first-team Daktronics West Region all-star, falling one point short in balloting for Player of the Year honors, and Summers was a second-team pick.

Summers was named to four regular-season all-tournament teams, being MVP of three, and Dunbar was picked to three all-tourney squads.

The Vikings finished 23-5, placing second in the GNAC and reaching the first round of the NCAA Division II West Regional.
