BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Six home appearances begin the 2012-13 Western Washington University women's basketball schedule as announced by head coach Carmen Dolfo (22nd year, 446-169).

The Vikings, who reached the semifinals at last year's NCAA Division II West Regional, return four starters from that 22-8 team which reached the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament championship game for the second straight year.

WWU opens its campaign by playing host to a West Region Crossover Classic, meeting Azusa Pacific CA on Nov. 16 and UC San Diego on Nov. 17, followed by the Lynda Goodrich Classic with games against Carroll MT on Nov. 23 and Evergreen on Nov. 24.

The Vikings then open GNAC play at Sam Carver Gymnasium, entertaining Western Oregon on Nov. 29 and Saint Martin's on Dec. 1.

In all, WWU makes 13 regular-season home appearances. The last seven are Simon Fraser on Jan. 12, Seattle Pacific on Jan. 17, Montana State Billings on Jan. 19, Alaska Fairbanks on Jan. 31, defending GNAC and West Region champion Alaska Anchorage on Feb. 2, Northwest Nazarene on Feb. 21 and Central Washington on Feb. 23,

Besides hosting two tournaments, the Vikings are on the road for two others. At a West Region Crossover Classic at Chico, Calif., they play host Chico State on Dec. 7 and Sonoma State on Dec. 8. And at the Great Western Shootout in Las Vegas, Nevada, they meet Washburn KS on Dec. 18 and Grand Canyon on Dec. 19.

Completing WWU's schedule are road games with Alaska Anchorage on Jan. 3, Alaska Fairbanks on Jan. 5, Central Washington on Jan. 24, Northwest Nazarene on Jan. 26, Simon Fraser on Feb. 9, Montana State Billings on Feb. 14, Seattle Pacific on Feb. 16, Saint Martin's on Feb. 28 and Western Oregon on March 2.

The Vikings will play three pre-season exhibitions, entertaining British Columbia on Oct. 27, then traveling to face two NCAA I opponents, Seattle U. on Nov. 3 and Oregon State on Nov. 10.

The GNAC post-season tournament will be at Saint Martin's for the second straight year on March 6, 8-9.
