BELLINGHAM, Wash. - A national championship ring ceremony will highlight this year's Viking Jam, Western Washington University's 26th annual preseason introduction of its men's and women's basketball teams.

The event takes place Wednesday, Oct. 17 (7 p.m.) at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus. Admission is free.

Rings will be presented to members of the Vikings' 2012 NCAA Division II champion men's basketball team. WWU finished 31-5, winning the Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular-season crown and the West Regional title on its way to the national crown.

The 75-minute program also includes roster introductions, intra-squad scrimmages, a rim-rattling slam-dunk contest, a three-point shootout between the men's and women's squads, routines by the WWU cheerleaders and Hip-Hop dance team as well as fun contests for fans with lots of great prizes.
