Vikings ranked No.12 nationally in 2012-13 Division II Bulletin Preseason Poll

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University is ranked No.12 in the 2012-13 Division II Bulletin preseason women's basketball poll. Defending Great Northwest Athletic Conference and West Region champion Alaska Anchorage was listed among "others to watch." Last year, WWU finished 22-8 and reached the semifinal round at regionals. Four starters return for the Vikings, center Britt Harris, forward Erika Ramstead, point guard Corinn Waltrip and guard Trishi Williams. UAA ended up 30-5 last season, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Elite Eight tournament. Ashland (Ohio) is the No.1 ranked team. UC San Diego is the top-ranked West Region squad at No.7. Grand Canyon is ranked 15th and Chico State 23rd. The publication named two players from each of the eight regions to its Super 16 team. Selected from the West Region were UC San Diego guard Daisy Feder and Grand Canyon guard Maylinn Smith. |
